| Artemis uses a
pair of 12AT7EH twin-triodes of the Russian
Electro Harmonix that drives two
EL34 also from Electro Harmonix. Artemis "Plus"
uses two 6550s for higher power output.

which has been processed by CNC

| The
output stage is push-pull and the amplifier can
function as Ultra Linear as well, since the output
transformer, which is handmade by the Tsakiridis
Devices especially for this particular amplifier, provides taps to
the primary of the transformer so that the EL34 grids are connected
there. The Ultra Linear configuration is intermediate of the
pure triode and the pure pentode configuration and offers an
interesting, as to the sound, combination of the two edges, using a
local negative feedback loop. The choice of Ultra Linear
configuration in Artemis, can be made "on the
fly" with the assistance of an easily accessed
switch. |

Artemis uses good quality porcelain tube sockets.

setting the feedback level through a second switch between two
values (normal and low).

The amplifier

and low). The power supply contains a custom
made handmade transformer (from Tsakiridis Devices too), as
well as two 470 uF capacitors from United
Chemicon. According to the manufacturer, the power
supply can deliver 200 W and can store 100 joules of energy. All
these allow each Artemis to supply 35 W in 8 Ohm load (45 W for the
Plus version), values which are valid for the amplifier's function
in pentode configuration and are reduced to 20 and 28 W respectively
in the Ultra Linear configuration. The components used in the
driving stage are of very good quality with 1% metallic film
resistors and polypropylene coupling
capacitors.
Generally speaking, the Artemis'
construction quality inaugurates a new era in Tsakiridis Devices
since this particular amplifier uses metallic case which has been
processed by CNC machinery and there is as well a
range of details, such as WBT's binding posts for
the speakers and Clearaudio's cynch for the line
in. All above lend to the amplifier a perfect aesthetics and the
only thing missing (as far as the accessories is concerned) is the
possibility of placing a cage around the tubes. |
