FACING AMPLIFIERS LIKE ARTEMIS, you can not avoid
a little identity crisis: How it would be possible to combine the
very recent technology of the high resolution sound originating from
our digital sources, with a couple of tubes? In an effort to escape
from this racking question and having already some experience, you
avoid skillfully the theoretical juxtaposition (which will finally
end to an unbearably boring argument exchange, with no end) and you
rely on the old good and successful method of the practical control
of the situation: "SACD and tube, is it possible?" Well, why
not? For the Greek fans of tube amplifiers, Tsakiridis
Devices is not an unfamiliar name. The company of Tsakiridis
brothers (Konstantinos and Odysseas) established on 1991and since
then they have signed a wide and extremely interesting range of
amplifiers, which quickly obtained serious followers. Artemis is
the first of a new range of products that have been
developed from the company's production line and no doubt, it
consists a landmark device from many aspects (most of which we had
the opportunity to realize during the evaluation procedure).
The debut of the amplifier was in the 2003 High End Show in
Athens and has significant innovations in relation with the
previous company's products, mainly as to construction
aspects. It concerns a monoblock power amplifier able to
supply 35 W of power in its simple edition
(using tubes EL34) and 45 W in its "Plus"
slightly more expensive edition (using tubes 6550). |
