INTRO... |

LET'S START from the conclusion (so that you won't be
tired): The P70/D70 set is the best 16 bit/44,1kHz
digital audio source, or simply, the best cd player I've
ever listened to, including every other model of every other
manufacturer, regardless price. Besides, given the fact that the
market war is around SACD, DVD-A and universal players, I dare to
foresee that the units lying in the next pages consist a challenge
which most probably won't be "answered back". History will oblige us
to register these Teacs as the ultimate reference to cd
players. And now that we have cleared up the minor subjects, let's
see the most important: How they've done
it? |
Writing that
the importers of Teac Esoteric all over the world have stocked
hundreds of carton boxes with the P70/D70s, would be an
exaggeration. On the contrary, the low profile kept as to these
units -which are not new in the market- are annoying. Reviews
are very few, the available data fewer and the general publicity
rather inexistable. Last year in Frankfurt, the pair was lying in
the "inner" room of theexhibitor, just like if it was something
that had to be hidden and not being demonstrated
widely. But you know, it won't take a lot for a suspicious
journalist to start dreaming of weird conspiracies. The only reason
that we had the Esoteric in our disposition for two months and more,
was the prompt reaction of the local importer to our request,
which was actually based on the following simple remark: If DV-50
was such a good player (which it was), how better it could be a
non-compromising audio product in the same series?
Well... Whoever asks, learns about... |
